FREE e-learning course: How to Create a COVID-19 Secure Workplace

As a business owner, you’re probably thinking about your next steps when it comes to opening the doors of your business. In this FREE e-learning action plan, our experts have gathered the top 5 points for you to be dealing with right now.

Following an address to the nation from Boris Johnson, all those who can’t work from home have been urged to return to work. But before people return to their workplaces, employers are legally required to assess the risks of returning to work during the COVID-19 outbreak and put steps in place to manage that risk.

How to Create a COVID-19 Secure Workplace

This FREE e-learning course is focused upon the planning the return to work for senior managers and business owners and at the end of it you will understand the steps needed to start your return to work process. The measures, which came into force from Wednesday 13 May, include ‘unlimited’ time outdoors (as long as social distancing is maintained), encouraging those who can’t work from home – such as those in construction or manufacturing – to return to work and plans to open schools in stages. The country is now starting to look toward life beyond total lockdown.

Your five-point action plan

Ready to start planning your reopening? We've broken down the five key areas you need to focus on following the government's road map. This short course explains how to prepare, plan and implement any changes you may need in order to adhere to social distancing measures and other advice from the government or health authorities.

COVID-19 risk assessment of workplaces

The government has said employers must carry out a COVID-19 risk assessment of workplaces as soon as possible. You will still need to follow the five steps of risk assessments to identify hazards, assess risks and take action to prevent them, but this assessment will focus solely on risks of coronavirus transmission.

A panel of experts who support businesses discuss the questions most business owners and managers are asking:

• What are the steps you should take to prepare for a staged return to work?

• How can you ensure you are compliant with the new health and safety measures?

• What new policies are needed to cover changes to sick pay and home working rules?

• How can you meet new employment laws in a rapidly changing legal landscape?

• What can you do to support our employees during this challenging time?

With some form of lockdown set to continue indefinitely, it's clear the situation will be evolving for many months to come. This panel has the answers to how you stay tuned to the changes most relevant to your business.

A business owner since I was 21 –I was one of the 'enterprise allowance'  generation and started my business back in 1987. I've ridden the waves of a few recessions and overcome plenty of unknowns. I understand the pressure of employing people and the emotional rollercoaster times like this put you through. I've been very fortunate in my career to work with many brilliant visionaries. I've learnt much from them, but for those who know me well, know my quest for learning is never satisfied.

I now specialise in behaviour and business process optimisation, so look at how businesses interact with their people, customers and other stakeholders. I then work collaboratively with businesses to drive out waste and optimise their processes. This is largely through some form of digitisation, resulting in web applications and operational software to manage their systems, processes and KPI's.

I'm passionate about business and have a strong sense of community, which is why I started Love Business back in 2012, as I saw the innovative business owners start to thrive whilst other remain in a cycle of self-fulfilling doom as a result of the media channels negative news coverage. This is why Love Business only covers good news, focusses on the positive and looks to share all that's helpful.
