Nottingham Hospitals Charity Receives £1,000 Backing From Local Homebuilder

In support of an appeal to help NHS staff fighting Covid-19 on the frontline, Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands has donated £1,000 to the Nottingham Hospitals Charity.

The contribution is part of the leading developer’s Community Fund scheme and will go towards the charity’s #NottinghamNHSHeroes appeal.

At the heart of the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, the charity enhances care for patients at Nottingham City Hospital, the Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham Children’s Hospital and Ropewalk House.

Louise Knight, Head of Fundraising at Nottingham Hospitals Charity, said:

“We’re so grateful to Barratt and David Wilson Homes for this donation, which will be used to support the hard-working NHS staff at our hospitals during these challenging times. It is thanks to donations like this that we are able to provide extra wellbeing facilities and support for hospital staff at this busy time.”

As part of the emergency #NottinghamNHSHeroes appeal, £150,000 has been raised and two staff wellbeing centres – one at City Hospital and one at the Queen’s Medical Centre – have been created. These safe havens are for staff members to relax and unwind for a short time during challenging shifts, get a drink and a healthy snack, and speak to trained wellbeing officers if they need support.

Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ contribution will help to meet the demand for a third wellbeing centre and sleep pods for NHS workers that need to rest after a long shift.

Chris Southgate, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, said:

“Showing support and appreciation to those associated with the NHS is essential at a time like this, and it’s a privilege to be able to contribute to Nottingham Hospitals Charity’s appeal through our Community Fund scheme.

“We’d like to thank the key workers for their admirable work in providing first-class care for patients across Nottinghamshire.”

With Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Community Fund scheme, the housebuilder donates up to £1,000 a month to charities and organisations in the local area.

Through donations and fundraising, Nottingham Hospitals Charity works with the Trust to improve the hospitals’ life-saving equipment, staff development, medical research and enhancement of facilities.
