Derbyshire village to receive £970,000 funding boost

A new housing development in Hilton will deliver an investment of more than £970,000 into the local community.

Bellway is building 45 new homes at Mousley Park, off Derby Road in the village. The development will include a range of three, four and five-bedroom houses and two-bedroom bungalows, as well as an area of public open space.

Planning permission for the homes was granted by South Derbyshire District Council in July last year.

As part of the planning agreement for the development, Bellway will provide funding of more than £970,000 for local services, infrastructure and affordable housing.

Contributions will include £595,478 to provide affordable homes for rent or shared ownership within the district, £176,116 for secondary and post-16 education at John Port Spencer Academy in Etwall and £102,591 for Hilton Primary School.

Sporting and community facilities will also benefit from the development, with £37,620 going towards upgrading the playing fields at The Mease, the home of Hilton Harriers Football Club, and £20,998 for improvements to Hilton Village Hall.

A sum of £25,000 will be provided for a pedestrian crossing on Derby Road and a health contribution of £17,194 will be used to increase capacity at Wellbrook Medical Centre. Carolyne Watkinson, Sales Director at Bellway East Midlands, said:

A selection of three, four and five-bedroom homes are currently available at Mousley Park, with prices starting from £295,000.
