Positive sales seen at newly opened Myford Place, Beeston, despite economic slowdown

Derbyshire-based housebuilder Peveril Homes has seen sales of its new-build homes continue to soar at its newly opened Myford Place development despite the economic slowdown experienced as a result of lockdown.

The company launched its latest development, Myford Place in Beeston, Nottingham, the weekend before the UK’s lockdown came into force. Despite the timing of the launch, the firm has seen high levels of interest with nearly 50 percent of the development now under offer.

Peveril’s Sales and Marketing Director, Alison Kendall, is delighted by the reaction to Myford Place and admits sales have exceeded both hers and the team’s expectations given the current circumstances.

“With the impacts of Covid-19 becoming more of a reality, we were in two minds whether to actually launch this scheme because the safety of our staff, customers and the community was our priority. However, we already had two days of pre-booked appointments and when we contacted our customers, they still wanted to go ahead.

“To ensure the safety of all involved, we put strict health and safety precautions in place. As a result, the launch was a great success with a number of reservations taken over the weekend followed by more in the following weeks despite the marketing suite and show home being closed. The sales team was able to work remotely, so it was ‘business as normal’ - or as normal as we could make it.”

Myford Place is situated in the sought after Nottingham suburb of Beeston, on the site of the former Myford Engineering Ltd factory and combines a unique, contemporary product with a premium location offering 32 one, two, three and four-bedroom homes. Peveril Homes is also in the process of constructing a further development adjacent to Myford Place - incorporating 15 two-bedroom apartments and a new Co-op supermarket on the ground floor. Both developments enjoy easy access to Chilwell Road tram stop, providing swift and easy access into Nottingham.

As Alison goes on to explain, the agile nature of the business and the quick thinking of the team has cemented the success of Myford Place whilst avoiding a compromise on the health and safety of those involved - allowing purchasers to have something to plan for and look forward to.

"In response to the lockdown measures imposed by the Government, we have implemented detailed remote working measures which have allowed us to adapt to the situation very quickly and successfully facilitate sales.

“The remote sales information available for purchasers includes video calls, 360 degree show home tours and online marketing materials full of relevant information, with sales executives becoming our ‘personal shoppers’ for customers - showing them around plots via a live video link.

“They can answer any questions there and then and show any parts of a property where customers may need verification - for example, the view from a bedroom. We pride ourselves on being a people-to-people business and whilst we are presently providing a lot of information via the internet, our friendly, knowledgeable sales executives will never be replaced by technology.”

Alison continues:

“In addition, reservations can be undertaken remotely via telephone and email, with the reservation fee fully refundable until the purchaser has been able to visit the development and confirm that they wish to proceed. We cannot expect purchasers to make probably the most expensive purchase of their lives and exchange contracts without viewing where they are going to live first.”

Myford Place is unique and with its central location in the heart of Beeston, it’s proven a hit with first-time buyers, young professionals and families alike.

The 2-bedroom Attenborough has proved extremely popular with both first-time buyers and those downsizing but wishing to stay in the area. All of these are now under offer and only a handful of the 1-bedroom Trent’s remain available. The deceptively spacious three and four-bedroom homes have also received a lot of interest, with a number already reserved.

Alison explains:

“The popularity of Myford Place and indeed the continued success we’ve seen as a company during these uncertain times has no doubt been down to our company-wide ethos around having the right product, in the right location, with innovative designs and high-end specifications at their heart,

“As a business, we pride ourselves on our continued commitment to industry excellence and being there for our customers, no matter what the situation and we will continue to support each and every purchaser in the best way we can during this time. It is very much business as usual for the team despite the absence of the use of a sales suite and show home and we sincerely hope that the months ahead are kind to everyone.”
