National Charities To Get A Slice Of The Action Thanks To John Pye

NOTTINGHAM-based online auction house John Pye Auctions has launched its biggest coronavirus charity auction to date, supported by celebrities, professional athletes, sports clubs and businesses.

The auction – which is now live until 8pm Sunday 31 May – is the second in a series of charity auctions from John Pye in aid of supporting community projects during the coronavirus pandemic, including national food bank charity, FareShare.

The UK’s current and past ‘Auctioneer of the Year’ for the last five years hopes to raise more than £50,000 for a wide range of causes benefitting communities across its UK auction site network and beyond.

The range of incredible donors includes Wales’ own Hollywood actor Michael Sheen, Great British Bake Off lead presenter and judge Prue Leith as well as golfers Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose.

All have kindly donated signed memorabilia lots, whilst sports club and businesses have donated many unique experiences that will give bidders a positive experience to look forward to after lockdown.

Some of the unique items up for grabs include sporting experiences, luxury overnight breaks and exclusive signed merchandise. Highlights include:

  • A week-long stay at a South African resort
  • British MotoGP Paddock & Hospitality
  • Golf days at Celtic Manor and St Andrews
  • Introductory flying lesson

Sheldon Miller, business development director at John Pye Auctions, said:

“Following the success of our first charity auction, the entire John Pye team has been incredibly keen to set up our next national auction, which is focused on all our showroom locations not just our Nottingham HQ.

“We have received donations from people and organisations across the UK and we thank everyone who has donated to help these great causes. From sporting, celebrity, and business backgrounds there has been an overwhelming amount of support shown and we are extremely honoured to be hosting such a special auction.

“Like a lot of the UK population, we have family members and friends working day and night as key workers to keep us all safe. This has given the John Pye team extra determination to market, promote and host this auction with all funds raised going to the chosen charities. Many our staff have volunteered their time and have worked tirelessly on making this possible - they have done themselves, the business and the community proud.”

The John Pye charity bidding process is quick and easy, with an online chat function available for support. Bids remain anonymous and bidders are notified via email if they are outbid.

John Pye has five main auction hubs across England, Scotland and Wales and each site has formed a team of volunteers to spearhead the community charity drive.

All proceeds raised from the auction will be split between the national John Pye chosen charity FareShare, as well as each John Pye site’s chosen charities, which include Macmillan Cancer Support, Ashgate Hospice, Fairplay, Falkirk Homeless Project, Llamau, Thrive Women’s Aid and Who Dares Cares.

Last month, John Pye Auctions raised more than £16,000, in conjunction with the Robin Hood Fund, for Nottinghamshire community charities who have been severely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

John Pye is still accepting celebrity and sporting memorabilia and entertainment experience donations throughout the auction period, so if you are interested in supporting the charity auction with a donation please email charity@johnpye.co.uk.
