Jamie Thrasivoulou, from Allenton, is best known in the city for his poem We Are Derby, which is read out before every Rams home game.
His latest effort, entitled ‘This One’s For The Key Workers’, praises those including NHS staff, teachers, bin collectors and posties who have all played a pivotal role as Covid-19 continues to claim lives around the world.
The 36-year-old goes on to call these key workers ‘the real heroes keeping this country running’ and claims that ‘every role is as important as the other, the roses to this virus’s thorns.’
“I wrote the poem as a way of highlighting the important work that all of the key workers and essential staff are carrying out in the country during the current crisis.
“I wanted to share the message of support echoed by many In the form of a short poem and I’ve already received a huge amount of messages of appreciation from NHS staff through to delivery drivers, bin collectors, prison staff and posties.”

Jamie recited the poem to friend and BBC Radio Derby journalists Blake Fallows, who's edited a version of the poem to music, which has been played regularly on the radio station.
Radio Derby's Hannah Bowle has also created a video for the poem.
“Blake and Hannah have done a great job with my poem, adding musical accompaniment and a video to further emphasise the importance of the message and to help it reach new ears,” added Jamie.
Jamie, who now lives in the West End, also does educational work and is the resident poet at Foston Hall prison, where he works with female prisoners accessing psychiatric help.
