Women’s Centre Launch Corona Comarades To Provide Mental Health Support In The Community

This week saw the launch of Shama Women’s Centre’s next project which aids to support the local community with mental health concerns and further help those struggling with social isolation.

As the Corona lockdown continues, the UK is seeing an alarming growth in the number of cases of UK citizens suffering from low moods, loneliness, depression and anxiety. In response to this emerging need, Shama Women’s Centre have stepped up to offering free, confidential support and advice through a bank of qualified professionals.

With a team of professional counsellors on hand for those that are struggling with mental health, loss of a loved one or feeling alone, they also have a dedicated team of trained volunteers on hand for general conversation and to check-in throughout the community.

In addition, Shama Women’s Centre are able to signpost to complimentary services within the community ensuring the right support is in place.

The new Corona Comrades team, in addition, are able to provide support through multiple languages ensuring even the most vulnerable members of the community have the care and help needed to push through this difficult time.
