Lockdown Head Shave Challenge Raises Money for Chesterfield Royal Hospital

A Chesterfield man is aiming to raise at least £2,500 for the NHS by joining in with the lockdown head shaving craze. 

Adrian Mason, Managing Director of Children 1st Day Nurseries, has accepted the challenge laid down by his three sons, who all shaved their heads once lockdown was announced. Adrian decided that if he was going to do it, then he would do it for a good cause and decided to raise money for the Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust General Charity. 

It is hoped the money will be used to help support those frontline NHS staff who are playing such a key role in the nation’s battle with Covid-19. 

Adrian is scheduled to ‘brave the shave’ on Saturday 11 April in an event which will be streamed on Facebook Live. One of his sons will have the pleasure of being in charge of the clippers! 

Adrian comments,

“My sons shaved their hair off for fun during the lockdown and then dared me to follow suit. However, I was determined to use what started as a bit of fun as an opportunity to support a worthwhile cause.”

“Many of our nurseries are open at the moment to support NHS frontline staff and other key workers. We know how hard everyone is working and very challenging conditions so raising money for our local NHS trust was the obvious choice. I hope other people can support me…and that my hair grows back before its time to go back to work again!”
