Musclefood Deliver Record Customer Orders

Online healthy food retailer musclefood has recorded its biggest delivery month ever in the wake of the corona virus pandemic.

The retailer which is based in Basford, its suppliers and delivery partners have been working round the clock since the outbreak of corona virus to get fresh meat and healthy meals out to new and existing customers.

Orders from keyworkers, the vulnerable and those self-isolating have been prioritised and over 20,000 additional delivery slots have been added in the last two weeks alone.

The retailer has created a range of Express Delivery boxes to at a time when the big food retailers have been struggling to get deliveries out.

Each box includes enough fresh meat or healthy ready meals for an average family from their best seller range and they are urging shoppers to think of the elderly and vulnerable who they could buy for to ensure they have healthy meals through this difficult time.

The retailer is also upping its efforts to keep the nation fed with production of its ready meals being increased and more delivery slots being released daily for their express range.

During March, musclefood delivered over 135,000 orders, selling including 125,000kg of premium chicken breasts. Website visits were up to 2.3 million.

CEO of musclefood Nick Preston said:

“We’re living in unprecedented times and are having to think fast to make sure we’re getting fresh food out to customers and in particular those that need it the most.

“Key to us being able to open the thousands of additional delivery slots is the ability of our teams to work with multiple suppliers and the co-ordinated response from our delivery partners.

“Their fast response to the pandemic and that of the musclefood team has meant we’ve been able to meet orders and open thousands of additional slots.

“Our warehouse team have been working flat out and we’re now upping production of our fresh ready meals for these who need a healthy, filling meal fast.”

Nick added:

“Our message to customers is in line with that of all retailers and the Government. Please be considerate when buying. There is no need to stock-pile or panic buy. All retailers including musclefood are working with suppliers to ensure product supply lines remain open.

“Panic buying puts extra strain on the supply chain and then creates a false economy as price is driven up by the demand placed on the producers, suppliers and raw materials.”

“It is important to acknowledge that all UK retailers are doing an outstanding job to feed the nation and the co-ordinated approach we’re taking means no one will go without.

“Undoubtedly there are tough times ahead but we, along with other retailers, will face the challenge head on.”
