Key appointments at Woodhead Group

The Shareholders have appointed Samantha Sargent as Finance Director taking over from Hilary Cheshire who retired on 31st March 2020. Hilary will remain an active Shareholder in the family business.

Sam has over 17 Years of experience and has spent the past 8 years with the Woodhead Group.

Sam looks forward to taking on the role and said:

“I am excited about grasping the opportunities and rising to the challenges ahead. Hilary has been a fantastic colleague, coach and mentor to work with and has helped me to grow in order to take on this brilliant role.”

Hilary has worked with Sam for the past 8 years and said: 

 “I am delighted to announce Sam as my successor. As I’ve watched her grow and develop, she has proven a unique tenacity to reach goals and achieve outcomes.”

Hilary joined the company full time as Finance Manager in 1982 and was appointed as a Finance Director in 1985. She has been a fantastic asset to the company and has always maintained the underlying drive to ensure we are financially compliant and resilient in all areas of the business.

Hilary speaks very highly of Sam: 

 “Very rarely have I witnessed someone work harder and be more determined to get a job done to the best of their ability.”

Associate Directors

The Woodhead Group have also appointed Alistair Taylor and Chris Tutin to the new roles of Associate Director of Operations and Associate Director of Commercial respectively.

Alistair has been with the Woodhead Group for 10 years, graduating in 2009 after completing his second degree in Property Development and Construction. He started with the company as a trainee QS/Estimator and has progressed through the business due to his commitment and ability to achieve.

Chris joined the Group in 2014 as a Quantity Surveyor and has progressed rapidly due to his exceptional talent and commercial acumen.

The three promotions come as the Group revealed a strong forward order book of construction work secured for 2020 including the Northern Gateway Enterprise Centre for Chesterfield Borough Council and a place on the £340m EN:Procure Framework.
