Student Housing Nominated For Responsible Business Awards

Specialist lettings agent and property management company Student Housing has been shortlisted for a prestigious regional business award.
2020 East Midlands Brick Awards
The company, which has offices in Lincoln and Nottingham, is a finalist in the 2020 East Midlands Brick Awards.
Organised by East Midlands Business Link magazine the awards celebrate the work of property and construction companies that are changing the landscape of the region.
Portfolio of 600 properties
Student Housing, which manages a portfolio of 600 properties, home to more than 1,500 students, has been shortlisted for the Responsible Business Award.
Nominations were submitted by the magazine's readers, with shortlist s bring compiled by the magazine's judges. In the Responsible Business category, judges were looking for companies that "have demonstrated corporate responsibility in their field, working in harmony and for the betterment of the local community in which it operates and setting a shining example for the rest of the supply chain."
"It is great that our approach has been recognised," says Marcus Askam-Yates, Director of Student Housing. "When we launched Student Housing, we set out to change the way student accommodation was provided and marketed, and we think we've managed to do that. In Lincoln, we are the largest specialist student housing agents and our success to date in the city is being replicated in Nottingham, where we opened a second office in May last year.
"We take great care to look after both our tenants and landlords. We only represent properties that offer a home from home experience. Our tenants appreciate having all their bills included in their monthly rent, and they love having high speed broadband, high quality fixtures and fittings, and tenant perks, such as discounts at nightclubs, our Halloween party and free pizza and Christmas Trees.
"All of our properties use energy from renewable sources, and we pass on our savings from bulk buying onto our landlords to ensure they are minimising their outgoings. We also only work with landlords who are committed to providing students with the highest quality accommodation."
In 2015, disappointed with the standard of accommodation they could find to rent, Marcus (29) and his business partner, Harry Conti (26) left the University of Lincoln halfway through their degrees to start Student Housing.
Today the company works with 260 landlords in Lincoln and Nottingham managing both Homes of Multiple Occupancy and accommodation blocks. Most recently the company fended off competition from national lettings agents to be appointed by Hubb Property Group to manage Cathedral Court, a purpose-built 94-bed accommodation block in Lincoln.
Responsible Business Award Nominees
Marcus and his team will find out if they've beaten fellow Responsible Business Award nominees - Geda Construction and Leicestershire County Council - to the award at the East Midlands Bricks Awards ceremony later in the year.
