Rhydian Pile, the owner and Managing Director of Derby-based Accent, which provides a full range of in-house print solutions, had taken the decision to halt production and close its doors in line with Government guidelines, to protect the health and wellbeing of his staff and customers and help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
However, earlier this week, he took a call from a local NHS Trust with a request to produce some urgent leaflets relating to the coronavirus outbreak, which made the job an essential delivery.
At short notice, Rhydian reopened the doors of the business, turned the presses back on and got to work printing and finishing several thousand flyers, which were then delivered to local NHS hospitals.
Rhydian said:
“I was only saying to my colleague last week that with everything going on in the world regarding Covid-19, print is quite insignificant when there are companies working round the clock to create testing kits and developing vaccines to help get the coronavirus pandemic under control.
“Closing the doors to Accent, albeit temporary, was a hard decision to make, but the right one to help protect my staff and customers. But, this job was an essential delivery so I was pleased we were able to jump on it quickly to get the leaflets done and distributed to our local NHS hospitals.
“The NHS have done an amazing job throughout the ongoing crisis and I took great delight in joining the community last night in applauding all the frontline medics and nurses and other NHS staff working tirelessly to support the country right now.”
