Northampton silent auction makes a big boom for Sports Relief

Staff at Barratt Homes Northampton have raised a whopping £597.19 for Sports Relief by holding a silent auction and a novelty balancing game.

Multiple companies generously donated a list of 13 prizes with a sporting theme, meaning staff at the Grange Park Head Office could bid on an item of their choice.

These prizes included games of golf at Collingtree Park and Celtic Manor Resort, A family ticket for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club, sport massages from Back&Body Clinic and Move4Physio and some sessions of Hotpod Yoga.

Other prizes centered around slightly less physical affairs. This included a £50 voucher for Virgin Wines, a bottle of Tattinger champagne and a £10 coffee voucher.

The varied list of prizes meant that everyone could get involved and allowed the lucky punters to secure a bargain whilst providing much needed support for a whole plethora of charities.

Some prizes sold for almost the clear asking price. With the £30 sport massage voucher fetching £29.50, it is clear that the Barratt Homes employees were looking to donate as much as possible.

Barratt Homes Northampton also found a quirky way of raising a little extra change by setting up a coffee shop style challenge on their reception desk.

The challenge required the Barratt employees to balance a £1 coin on top of a lemon that was floating in a bowl of water. Any coins that found their way into the water were destined to stay there. While dry coins earnt the delicately handed owner a share of up to 50% of the winnings.

Clearly, with the amount of money that was raised, this proved more difficult than expected.

Alison Raine, Sales Director for Barratt Homes Northampton said:

“A combination of generosity from lots of local businesses and our ever determined staff resulted in a great amount of money being raised. We are committed to working with the community and as a brilliant team and that shone through with our quirky fundraising efforts”.
