Art gallery scheme to be project managed by Focus Consultants

Art gallery scheme to be project managed by Focus Consultants

Focus Consultants has been appointed to project manage the development of a new collections centre at one of the UK’s leading art galleries.

The company is carrying out the role at Pallant House Gallery, Chichester, which houses one of the best collections of modern British art in the country.

Wright & Wright Architects has been appointed to design the new collections centre following the recent acquisition of a 19th Century Coach House. The new collections centre in the Coach House will better preserve the gallery’s internationally celebrated collection of Modern British art. Existing spaces will be transformed to enhance the visitor experience; create new learning, gallery and back of house spaces; improve accessibility for staff and the general public; and build on the gallery’s existing sustainability credentials.

Nottingham-based Focus Consultants, which also has offices in London, Leicester and Newark, will lead the project management of the capital project.

Focus Consultants Partner Eleanor Clarke said:

“Focus Consultants has worked on many arts, culture and heritage schemes at a range of sites across the UK, including museums, stately homes and galleries.

“This is a transformational project at Pallant House Gallery, and we are proud to be bringing our skills in the sector to help create this development which will enhance the facilities and bring new audiences to the gallery.”

As well as an original and critically acclaimed exhibition programme and a public programme with inclusion at its heart, the gallery houses one of the best collections of Modern British art in the country - all within a distinctive setting of an 18th century townhouse and a 21st century gallery.

Simon Martin, Director of Pallant House Gallery said:

“We are delighted to be working with Focus Consultants to develop Pallant House Gallery’s ambitious plans for the future. The company has significant experience working within the culture and heritage sector and we look forward to Focus project managing this exciting development which will ultimately help us to better serve the needs of our diverse audiences and community, and to better care for and present our internationally-significant collection.”
