JMP Solicitors supports Children of Courage Awards

Courageous young people were recognised at the ninth annual Children of Courage Awards last week with Grantham-based law firm JMP Solicitors as a main sponsor.

The event, hosted by the Rotary Club of Grantham Kesteven, took place on 11 March at the Urban Hotel, Swingbridge Road in Grantham, presenting eight children with the honourable award.

During the event, guests were invited to listen to the unique challenges faced by the children which were met with determination, character and selfless commitment.

Recipients of the awards included Lewis Charlesworth from Bluecoat Meres Academy, Sophie Hall from the Grantham Additional Needs Fellowship – Ambergate Sports Collage, Theo Wilson from Grantham Additional Needs Fellowship – Sandon School, Harriet Wilkins from Grantham College, Alice Rossington from Kesteven & Grantham Girls’ School, Edward Bellamy from The King’s School in Grantham, Phuoc Le Ngoc from Priory Ruskin Academy and Grace Moore from Walton Academy.

Paralympic track athlete, Sam Ruddock, presented as a special guest at the event. Sam, who has competed at both London 2012 and Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, is affected by cerebral palsy which affects the co-ordination of muscles in his lower body. He is currently training for Tokyo 2020.

Other special guests included the Mayor of Grantham, the Chair of South Kesteven District Council, the Rotary District Governor and a number of local councillors.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Grantham Kesteven, the awards were established back in 2011 and annually, they serve to celebrate the achievements of young people and their families and care teams, recognising amazing and brave behaviour in challenging situations.

Ian Howard, managing director at JMP Solicitors, said:

“The Children of Courage Awards celebrate exceptionally brave young people who have gone above and beyond. It was heart-warming to hear their stories and to understand the challenges that they go through in their daily lives.

“We are proud to support this wonderful initiative for such inspirational and courageous individuals who have selflessly overcome truly difficult times for the sake of others. Thank you to the Rotary Club of Grantham Kesteven for hosting such an incredible event.”
