Agrovista inspires through marketing leadership

One team culture delivers marketing results

Despite being given the task of ‘shaking things up’, Jodie Vale believes it’s a culture of team belonging that has truly transformed Agrovista’s marketing.

With her team more than doubling in less than two years, creating a positive working environment with an open-door policy is something that she takes great pride in.

“The team has grown quickly, so it’s been a priority to ensure that each individual feels valued and supported in their role,” said Head of Marketing, Jodie.

“Seeing my team, either as individuals or collectively, achieve success is my ultimate motivator. And it works – we’re now a high performing team and achieve results as a unit.”

Having achieved a BA (Hons) Business and Marketing degree at the University of East London, Jodie enjoyed a series of marketing executive roles from a range of sectors including financial services, law and publishing. But it was landing the position of UK Marketing Communications Manager for Syngenta Flowers in 2008, that first introduced her to the concept of crop science.

Here her talent for marketing flourished, progressing through various communications and campaign management roles before being appointed as Marketing Communications Manager for Europe, Africa and the Middle East in 2017.

Then in the summer of 2018, she was invited to join Agrovista to rejuvenate the company’s marketing, introduce new ways of working and implement big changes.

Jodie, who is CIM Postgraduate Diploma-qualified and a Chartered Marketer, said:

“I knew that it’d be a challenge when I took on the role with what was a lean team with no marketing plan, but that’s what attracted me to it in the first place.

“It’s not often that you’re given the opportunity to ‘shake things up’ and the full autonomy to implement a new marketing and brand strategy. And now, nearly two years later, we can offer the business specialist expertise across the full marketing mix - from digital and social media, to events and technical PR.

“The support I’ve received from colleagues across the business and willingness to engage with marketing is what has made it happen though. It’s inspired me to want to achieve even more.”

With a team of dedicated marketing specialists to support her, Jodie is now able to concentrate on her true passions - strategic marketing, campaign management and brand strategy.

Jodie added:

“Marketing is evolving, so it’s important to stay on top of trends in order to futureproof the business and give colleagues the tools they need to do the best job they can.

“An area I’m passionate about is marketing metrics – providing the evidence and numbers needed to prove that marketing really does contribute to the bottom line, and that there’s a tangible value to our work.

“I’ve no intention of leaving the marketing profession, it’s what I love so I’m concentrating on developing my career through learning. I also have two young daughters and being a strong, female role-model for them is one of the greatest things I could ever achieve.”
