Tax consultant Pete Miller says big thank you to zip wire challenge sponsors

Intrepid corporate tax consultant Pete Miller would like to say a big thank you to everyone who sponsored him in his recent zip wire challenge.

Pete is thrilled, and very grateful, that his friends, family and colleagues have raised more than £2,500 for Leicestershire charity Alex’s Wish.

He was among a team of 30 to ride the world’s fastest zip wire over Penrhyn Quarry in Wales, in an event instigated by Glynis Wright, President of the Leicestershire Law Society. At the last count the challenge’s fundraising total had topped more than £10,000.

Pete, of Leicester-based tax consultancy, The Miller Partnership, thoroughly enjoyed the experience, despite the weather on the mid-February day being exceptionally windy.

He said:

“The ride was extremely exhilarating. It only takes a minute or two to complete yet in some ways it feels longer. It was a fantastic experience and I’m so grateful to everyone for their sponsorship and support.”

Alex’s Wish raises money to find effective treatments and ultimately a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, an aggressive life-limiting muscle wasting condition which affects one in every 3,500 boys.

It was set up by Alex’s parents, Emma and Andy Hallam, in late 2012, after their son Alex was diagnosed with the condition.

The group of highfliers (pictured) were joined in their challenge by Alex, who is 13, and his mum.

Pete is already thinking of taking part in another white-knuckle escapade for charity at some stage over the next 18 months.

A qualified technical scuba diver, he is always up for a thrill-seeking adventure and has hinted that he might give sky diving a go in his next fundraising endeavour.
