J Tomlinson completes construction of West Midlands neurological care centre

Extra care building and maintenance specialist, J Tomlinson, has completed construction of a multi-million pound, two-storey neurological care centre in Worcester.

Opening this month, Inspire Neurocare Worcester will provide care and rehabilitation for adults with neurological conditions and brain injuries, and will mark the third care development J Tomlinson has delivered in partnership with Hamberley Development.

The modern, purpose-built facility features lounges, dining facilities and communal spaces, with an en-suite toilet and wet room in each bedroom. All resident areas were designed in compliance with acute hospital, Health Building Note standards, and is wheelchair accessible throughout.

Works started on the site of the former Coppertops pub on Oldbury Lane in August 2018 after J Tomlinson was appointed to manage the design and build of the 42-bed development on behalf of leading developer of specialist care facilities, Hamberley Development. The project involved significant landscaping and service works, including the creation of car parking facilities and a picturesque garden area, and was delivered on budget and to a high-quality finish.

Mark Davis, chief executive at J Tomlinson, commented:

“J Tomlinson has a wealth of experience in managing the design and construction of specialist care facilities across the UK, and we are delighted to have worked in partnership with our long-standing client, Hamberley Development, on the delivery of the UK’s first Inspire Neurocare facility, which will provide residents with the support they need.”

Other specialist care developments J Tomlinson has constructed in partnership with Hamberley include the design and build of Gracewell of Sutton Coldfield – a 65-bed care home and conservative club pavilion completed in summer 2016 - as well as the construction of Chawley Grove Care Home, which opened in Cumnor, Oxfordshire, last April.

Paul Hill, CEO at Inspire Neurocare, added:

“This state-of-the-art building will allow us to provide truly leading-edge neurological rehabilitation services.

“Having the right built environment is a critical component of our care offering.

“Every day we will strive for new ways to assist people to maintain their skills and abilities or relearn skills they have lost through injury or illness.”
