Derby Firm Hosts “Best Night in Specialist Lending Calendar”

Derby-based Online Mortgage Advisor has celebrated the best in the mortgage industry at its annual Charity Awards.

The mortgage broker matching service held its yearly Charity Awards on Friday 31st January 2020 at Derbyshire County Cricket Club.

Halifax took home one of the biggest prizes of the night, for Best Lender, while Kensington was named the Best Specialist Lender.

Create Finance was the biggest winner of the night, however, with five awards. It earned the prestigious Best Overall Broker category, as well as Best Overall Company.

Gindy Mathoon, of Create Finance, said:

“Firstly, I’d like to say thanks very much to Online Mortgage Advisor for everything provided for us in 2019. The quality of leads is fantastic, the Support Team are fantastic.

“We have some great success stories and that’s all thanks to Online Mortgage Advisor. They’ve changed our brokers’ lives, not just the customers’ lives.”

The 1920s-themed evening also supported two worthy causes. A silent auction and raffle raised money for Mercy Hands Uganda UK, a charity that has built and maintains a school for impoverished children, and Lee Welland, a personal friend of Online Mortgage Advisor’s Managing Director, who is battling cancer.

The event raised over £4,700 for its chosen charity funds. Online Mortgage Advisor remains committed to raising money for charitable causes, having set up an ongoing fundraising process, to show their dedication to offering continued help and support to these worthwhile causes.

The awards ceremony is quickly becoming a key event in the mortgage industry social calendar, as it also offers a fantastic opportunity to network amongst the best in the business.

Harsha Dahyea, a Business Development Manager at Bluestone, reflected on the evening:

“The Online Mortgage Advisor event 2020 was remarkable and Bluestone really felt the love on the night. In my opinion, the annual Online Mortgage Advisor Charity Awards is the best night in the specialist lending calendar. One not to be missed!”

The Managing Director of Online Mortgage Advisor, Pete Mugleston, commented:

“What an evening! I love our awards event, not just because we get to see so many of our broker partners in one place and have a few drinks, but because we have so many people come together and celebrate worthy causes close to our hearts, and the money raised makes such a difference.

“Last year, we were able to make improvements to the classrooms in Uganda and now the children don't have to walk two hours every morning for water. This year, the money will help Lee get cancer treatment in Vienna, and the rest is going towards digging a well for the community in Uganda.”

He added:

“Another thing I love about our awards is how well received they are by the brokers and lenders, and how they recognise front line performance. Not many events I know of reward directly in line with written business - our awards are based purely on stats as a meritocracy; brokers and lenders ranked against their peers who have the same opportunity.”

Online Mortgage Advisor is looking forward to its next industry event.
