Building an online empire for P&R

Building an online empire for P&R

P&R Building Supplies is an independent, family-run builders’ merchant with an emphasis on quality, customer service and satisfaction.

Its wide product range includes general building supplies, along with materials and equipment for landscaping and gardening, plumbing and drainage, and insulation. Its vast warehouse holds all the materials, tools and supplies required to complete any building job.

Established in 1983, it supplies to experts in the trade, domestic handymen and the general public.

It sources and supplies quality materials to a wide range of customers, including builders, contractors, landscapers, DIY enthusiasts and local authorities.

It also has a fleet of delivery vehicles with crane off-loading and tipping facilities, operating from its two depots in Coalville and Loughborough, Leicestershire, which are open six-days-a-week.

Quiet Storm first worked with P&R back in 2004 when we created its first website.

After a period with another web provider, we resumed our working relationship earlier this year, when we were tasked with creating a new brochure website for the firm, with potential ecommerce functionality built in, which can be implemented at a later date as the company rolls out its ambitious plans for growth.

A futureproof platform

We designed and created a simple brochure website for P&R Building Supplies to showcase its full range of products and services, key information about the business and the expertise of its highly experienced team.

Although the firm doesn’t currently trade via ecommerce, it has recognised that the building supplies industry is becoming more digitally-focused as technology progresses, and has plans to launch an online store at some point in the future in order to compete with some of the big names in the industry.

So, although the platform we built doesn’t currently have any ecommerce functionality, it has been built in such a way that when P&R wants to rollout this part of the business in the future, it will be able to be built into the system and implemented with ease.

The new website is fully optimised and mobile responsive, to ensure it has a high level of visibility with the search engines and can be accessed on a variety of devices.

It also has its own news platform and functionality which allows customers to apply for trade accounts, as well as being integrated with the firm’s social media channels, including Facebook and Twitter.

A platform that will grow with the business

P&R Building Supplies’ Managing Director Paul Johnson said:

“We’re really pleased with the way our new website has turned out. We’ve had a good working relationship with Quiet Storm for several years and even though we moved our website away from them for a period, when we were looking for our site to be redeveloped, it was an easy decision to go back.

“What we were looking for was a new platform which would not only give us the ability to promote the business online at this current time, but which also has the capability to grow with the business and enable us to launch an ecommerce store when we’re ready to do so.

“Alongside this, the team at Quiet Storm have kept things really simple by giving us a refreshed website which better reflects our brand and our full range of products and services, and is easy to use from an administrators’ point of view, so we can keep the content fresh and up-to-date.”
