Charity Fundraiser for International Women’s Day hosted by a local Women’s Centre celebrating 35th anniversary for community support

This year marks the 35th anniversary of this amazing centre and we have lots planned to raise awareness of this fantastic work, generate important partnership opportunities and create new business through trading.

Shama Womens’ Centre is one of the only Women’s support centres left across the Country that provide a holistic package of support and empowerment to thousands of women many who are from Black Asian and Minority ( BAME) backgrouds. With over 50 services to choose from, Shama Women’s Centre stands out from other centres. Activities include therapies, counselling, welfare advice, training and education opportunities, support to start a business, onsite childcare and much more.

Shama Women’s Centre are forever looking for support from the local community and would like to thank all our supporters through our journey and we look forward to welcoming more friends on board over the coming months. Shama has supported over 50,000 women across Leicester, with lasting positive impact on their families too. It has supported over 30,000 women with gaining recognised qualifications, with 76% of these securing paid employment. Our Bereavement to Achievement Plus programme , which provides mental health support to women and their families has delivered a £2.1 million cost saving to local health and social care economy in 4 years . The centre are a true asset to vulnerable BAME families, breaking down multiple barriers, to support and empower a diverse community.
