Supply chain solutions firm embraces ecommerce as customer base booms

A Northants-based transport and logistics firm is stepping up its ecommerce services in response to the increasing online demand for products experienced by its retail customers, including WooWoo, KINN Living, King of Shaves and Meaco.

The NX Group, which provides warehousing, distribution and courier services nationwide from its base within the “Golden Triangle” of logistics, has noted the steep rise in requests for goods through online channels within a 48-hour – or even 24-hour – turnaround.

Key to keeping on top of the process for The NX Group is its recently-upgraded warehouse management system (WMS): Access’s Delta software. Accessed by the firm’s customers for reporting and order functionalities as well as by the firm’s staff, Delta automatically handles the inventory and order transactions from ecommerce platforms such as Shopify, Magento and WooCommerce.

“We’ve been using Access Delta since 2015, but the upgraded version has made the process of entering and tracking orders quicker and more efficient for our ecommerce customers,” explains Mark Moody, Commercial Manager at The NX Group.

“At our end, too, the Delta upgrades have expanded the functionality of our radio frequency (RF) scanners, which can now be employed on a wider range of warehouse activities. This is invaluable for our team as they prepare and distribute ecommerce orders with short deadlines – it means that crucial seconds can be shaved off the process, which can make all the difference to the end delivery time.”

One NX Group customer that makes daily use of the firm’s full range of services, including ecommerce, is WooWoo: a modern, British naturally sourced range of feminine health, care and pleasure products. WooWoo opted to work with The NX Group almost two years ago, as soon as they began trading, following a recommendation from their manufacturer. Once products are purchased online by WooWoo’s own customers, they are received, processed and delivered by The NX Group to outlets across the UK.

Lucy Anderson, Founder of WooWoo, says:

“We’ve found The NX Group fantastic since we started using their services – all the staff are great, from our commercial and IT contacts to the warehouse team.”

Mark Moody concludes:

“With our WMS, our recent investment in extended racking at our primary retail warehouse in Northampton, and the addition of several new vehicles to our fleet in recent weeks, we are proud to be increasingly well-placed to offer streamlined ecommerce services to our customers around the country.

“What’s more, the fact that we’re situated within five miles of the M1 at Junction 16 means that our fleet can leave our site and be on the road to London, Birmingham or further afield in under 10 minutes – all of which means we are able to respond promptly even to next-day requests from our customers.”
