Actons strengthen private client team

Actons, the leading independent law firm in Nottingham, has further strengthen its private client team with the appointment of a new senior lawyer and another senior lawyer successfully completing the STEP diploma.

Heather Parker joins the firm as an Associate in its Private Client team having qualified as a solicitor in 2005 and previously worked at Rothera Sharp.

With fifteen years’ experience in the field, Heather provides expert legal support on Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney and Care Fees. She is a Chair of the Nottinghamshire Law Society’s Private Client Committee, and is a fully accredited member of Solicitors for the Elderly and STEP.

At the same time, fellow Associate, Bindiya Patel, has successfully completed the STEP diploma, the kite mark qualification for private client lawyers. The team will boast four fully-qualified STEP members in Associates Bindiya Patel, Heather Parker, Cara Watson and Director Mandy Kelly. The team also includes Family lawyer and Director Mike Spencer, Chartered Legal Executive Ruth Swain, Paralegal Louise Craven and two support staff.

Heather’s arrival at the firm is part of its succession planning ahead of the retirement of team head Mandy Kelly in April after 27 years’ service to the firm.

Heather said:

“I’m delighted to have joined Actons. Through Nottinghamshire Law Society, I’ve known the team at Actons for a while. They are a lovely bunch of people and I’m excited to be working with them to develop the private client team further.”

Mandy Kelly, Director and Head of the Private Client team at Actons commented:

“I am thrilled that Heather has joined the firm. She is very well known in the Nottingham legal market, and I look forward to working with her over the next couple of months ahead of my retirement.

Having been with the firm for 27 years, I’m pleased to know that following my retirement, the excellent private client team will be in great shape to continue to grow and develop. They are a wonderful group of people and I know they will continue to go from strength to strength.”
