Anicca Digital continues its campaign to close digital skills gap with the launch of a training bursary for Leicestershire

Government statistics show that 1 in 10 people in work in the UK ‘completely lacks basic digital skills’, a fact that prevents people from earning more in the workplace (as digital jobs pay on average 29% more than those that don’t require those skills) and even acquiring employment in the first place.

Leicester-based digital marketing agency Anicca Digital has worked hard for over ten years to close the digital skills gap, providing free training through organisations such as the East Midlands Chamber of Commerce, starting its own networking evening Leicester Digital, and hosting its own annual conference on the subject for the past five years.

However, now the agency is appealing for people from Leicestershire to come forward to apply for a sponsored place on its own 12-week qualification in digital marketing, certified by the Digital Marketing Institute and Cambridge College.

Managing director, Ann Stanley, explains more;

“At Anicca, we have always tried hard to provide access to digital knowledge and skills, as this can increase opportunities for individuals, companies and even the region. Now with the launch in 2019 of our own certified qualification with the Digital Marketing Institute, it has enabled us to offer a supported place on the course for a local person who needs to radically overhaul their digital marketing skillset.”

The supported place (paid for by Anicca Digital) is worth £2245, and would provide classroom teaching and access to an online learning portal on its Level 5 Scottish Qualifications Authority course – equivalent to an English foundation degree course. The course covers a range of digital marketing topics including social media, content creation, online advertising and marketing strategy.

Ann says;

“The course is perfect for those who have found their skills are out-dated or have faced barriers to education. We are looking for people from all ages and backgrounds who have the appetite to learn – that’s the most important element. Perhaps you are a returner to the workplace, didn’t take advantage of educational opportunities first time round, or if like me, you are over 50, and didn’t get taught any digital skills!”

Applicants need to be confident that they can learn up to a foundation degree level, but otherwise the process is based on interview. Applicants should email with a covering email and CV by January 31st.

The course can be delivered in two ways; a day release course over 12 weeks that is ideal for people in part-time or full-time work, or a fast-track option delivered over three weeks for full time students. The qualification will be taught by Anicca’s top notch industry practitioners, and students will have access to learning materials via an online portal.

The next course starts in February 2020 and an open evening for all potential students (including paid students) is on Wednesday 22nd January from 5pm at Anicca’s Frog Island office.

To sign up for the open evening visit or for more information on the course visit or call 0116 254 7224.
