Leading developer celebrates growth as it welcomes new starters to technical team

Leading developer Barratt and David Wilson Homes South Midlands has welcomed four new starters to its Technical team; Alex Pook, Rob Hill, Azahara Bello and Michael Pritchard.

The team are involved in every stage of the building process and responsible for the design of outstanding homes. They ensure that the housebuilder is at the forefront of the market when it comes to technology and materials whilst making sure that they are delivering quality at the best possible price.

 Rob Hill (23) who has joined the team as a Technical Apprentice is studying towards a Technical and Professional Advanced Apprenticeship Level 3 at Bedford College where he attends every Friday.

He said:

“What really attracted me to the apprenticeship with Barratt and David Wilson Homes is that they are renowned for being a five star builder that also supports local communities and looks after their staff.”

In the future Rob wants to continue his education, progress within the Technical Team and gain as much knowledge as possible.

Michael Pritchard (28) joined the team as an Architectural Technologist and was attracted to Barratt and David Wilson Homes because of the industry reputation that the company has.

Michael said:

“I really enjoy the variety of work that I get to do on a day-to-day basis and getting to visit sites and see the finished products is a highlight for me.”

Azahara Bello (31) also recently joined the team as an Architectural Technologist. Originally from Spain, Azahara was attracted to Barratt and David Wilson Homes as an employer because of their prestige within industry and their reputation for building good quality homes.

Azahara said:

“Barratt and David Wilson Homes really cares about its employees which creates a great working environment.”

Since starting, Azahara has also joined the housebuilders’ Diversity and Inclusion team which aims to continuously engage with all departments within the division to create and implement ideas that promote and improve diversity in the workplace and wider community.

Azahara continued:

“I was keen to join the Diversity and Inclusion team when it was formed, as a woman from another country; I felt that I would be good representative. We are planning different activities and workshops to get more people involved and celebrate different cultures.”

Alex Pook (37) recently joined the team as a Technical Project manager. Like Azahara, Alex was attracted to Barratt and David Wilson Homes due to their reputation, he said:

“When I took a call from Barratt and David Wilson Homes asking me to come for an interview, I jumped at the chance! I was ecstatic to be offered a job with the reputable homebuilder as they are so well known throughout the industry.”

Alex continued: “I really enjoy the coordination of projects. It’s a bit like joining all of the pieces together of a large jigsaw puzzle as there is so much to think about. There’s a lot of pressure and it can be stressful but overall it is very rewarding.
