Don’t be among the 48% who get into business without an end game

Nearly 50% of business owners have no exit strategy - be it to sell, walk away or leave their company as a legacy to family.

Now a trio of expert Derbyshire advisors are combining forces for a special event to help business owners and shareholders think ahead to their departure from their company.

Sarah Loates, director of Loates HR, said:

“A recent Investor Watch Report showed how important it is to have an exit strategy when a business is created.

“This makes it much easier to make rational and informed decisions when you want to get out. Yet, 48% of business owners don’t have such a strategy.”

Sarah is joining forces with Jenny Moore of Dains Accountants and Lauren Bailey of Simpsons Solicitors to guide business leaders through the exit process.

She added:

“We realised that a new year often sparks business strategy discussions, so it is important to think about the end game at the same time.”

The “Oven Ready Your Business at the Shed” explores the law, accountancy and HR perspectives of preparing a business for sale or handover.

Following a networking breakfast at The Cotton Shed, Darley Abbey Mills, Lauren will discuss the importance of business wills, inheritance, tax issues, business protection and Powers of Attorney.

Jenny will examine the key aspects of selling a business as well as valuation and the key to a successful outcome – preparation.

Sarah will share the 12 key steps to ensuring the right people are in the right place at the right time to facilitate a business exit.

For more private matters there will be an optional one to one follow up available.

The event is by invitation only on January 21 at 8am.
