Society staff serve up festive fun for Hinckley Mencap

Hinckley Mencap enjoyed a Christmas party with plenty of fun and games, thanks to the volunteers of Hinckley & Rugby Building Society.

It’s the fourth year running that Hinckley & Rugby staff have thrown the party for Hinckley Mencap’s Thursday Club as part of the festive events organised by the business volunteering charity Leicestershire Cares.

Eighteen volunteers, including the Society’s entire executive team, were led by Aimee Williams, Hinckley & Rugby’s treasury and regulatory accounts assistant. More than 30 guests plus volunteers from Mencap at Hill Street enjoyed the party.

Aimee said:

“I think we all enjoyed ourselves just as much as the people at Mencap, who loved all the food we brought them and receiving presents from Santa. The favourite activity was decorating a bauble, which went down really well.”

Kelly Emery, society secretary at Hinckley & District Mencap, said:

“Our members and volunteers had an absolutely brilliant time.

“Every year I receive many messages from volunteers and members asking, as the end of the year nears, if I have heard from Leicestershire Cares as they look forward to the party so much. They enjoy the party but also really enjoy meeting the people from Hinckley & Rugby and have nothing but praise for all involved. We really are very grateful to them all.”
