Notts accountancy firm sleighs Christmas jumper day for children's charity

Winter warmers help Notts accountants raise funds for children's charity.

STAFF from Nottingham-based accountancy firm UHY Hacker Young came together this week to don their most festive jumpers and raise over £400 for Children With Cancer UK – a charity which aims to improve survival rates and the quality of survival in young cancer patients.

The accountancy firm selected Children with Cancer UK as its national charity for 2019/20 earlier this year, with each of its 22 offices fundraising for the charity through a series of themed events. To date UHY’s Nottingham office has raised £1,280 for the charity.

James Simmonds, partner at UHY in Nottingham, said:

“Following a number of fantastic fundraising events earlier this year, we wanted to keep up the momentum with a Christmas jumper day to raise awareness of this amazing charity and also get into the festive spirit here in Nottingham.

“We are so proud to have raised these funds for Children with Cancer UK, a charity that continues to drive up the survival rate of young cancer patients by developing effective curative therapies with fewer toxic side effects.”

The charity currently funds more than 60 research projects at centres of excellence around the UK. These projects are investigating a broad range of childhood cancers – helping the charity to better understand these diseases and to find more effective, less toxic ways of treating them.

Through its investment in research, the charity is taking forward its understanding of childhood cancer, to give new insights into ways of treating young patients with even the most difficult forms of cancer.
