Midland Heart makes family's Christmas wish come true with 500th new home handed over

Midland Heart housing association is celebrating a major milestone in its development programme - the 500th new property to be handed over this financial year.

Delighted customer Jamie Branston can now look forward to a proper Christmas with her partner and seven children after 19 months of being apart and living with different members of their families.

Midland Heart has 48 homes – all at affordable rent – on the 160-home Bloor Homes development near Leicester.

“This means so much to us,” said Jamie. “The family has been fragmented since we lost our baby son and couldn’t bear to return to the house where he died. Now we can all be together and start afresh in a lovely brand new home.

“One of my twins recently wrote a letter to Santa in which he said all he wanted for Christmas was a new home. It broke my heart to read it but now we can make that wish come true. We’ve kept the new house a secret so it will be a huge surprise for the children. We can’t wait to see their faces.”

Chris Miller, Director of Development, Midland Heart, said:

“This is a fantastic achievement for us as a provider of affordable housing and we are bang on target to reach our ambitious goal of 555 new homes completed by the end of March 2020.”

“We’re delighted Jamie and her family received the keys to our 500th new property and wish them every happiness as they settle into their new home.”

Jamie is pictured received the keys to her new front door and also a Christmas hamper from Midland Heart to mark the special occasion.
