Nottinghamshire Renewable Energy Company Celebrates Record Growth in 2019

Nottinghamshire firm, Geo Green Power, have grown from 19 to 29 employees in the last year as it keeps pace with a growing demand for renewable energy installations throughout the UK.

At the start of this week (25 November) the UN announced that the levels of CO2 had risen to 407.8 parts per million, an alarming new high. In a year that has seen unprecedented weather extremes and where the climate emergency has been at the forefront of the global conversation, Geo Green Power has expanded its team to cope with the increasing demand from individuals and businesses who want to do more.

Sales and Marketing Director, James Cunningham, said:

“We have definitely seen a shift this year in terms of why people and businesses are looking to invest in renewable energy. More and more customers want renewable energy because they want to make a difference, as well as see their utility costs come down.

“As yesterday’s figures demonstrate, there is still a lot to be done, but with the systems that we have installed already saving around 26,350 tonnes of CO2 every year our customers should not underestimate the impact they are having.”

Geo Green Power was established in 2009 and grew steadily, keeping pace with the original boom in solar PV following the introduction of the Feed in Tariff (FIT). The green energy experts expanded their operations in 2015 to supply and install air source and ground source heat pumps and biomass boilers, which now accounts for over half of the businesses sales.

James added:

“We have steadily recruited this year to expand both our heating and solar installation teams to keep up with growing demand. Our ability to offer both services has allowed us to create innovative bespoke heating and energy schemes for customers, which have been shortlisted for industry awards.”

In 2018 Geo Green Power installed around 2MW of renewable energy systems, this year they will deliver over 3MW. Geo Green Power have installed renewable energy solutions for high profile customers including The National Trust, Smeg, Savills and GF Tomlinson.

In addition to the installation business Geo Green Power also invest significantly in research and development in the renewable energies sector and have undertaken a number of innovative projects in 2019. They are the lead partner on a consortium based research and development project named Efficient GeoTech (EGT), a 3 year project to create a new Ground Heat Exchanger (GHE) which costs less to install and is more efficient. They are also industrial partners in a consortium-based research and development project named Solar Heat Store (SHS). The SHS project aims to develop a novel thermal energy storage battery using a supercooled phase change material (PCM) solution to improve the energy efficiency of domestic hot water systems.

In the new year Geo Green Power will expand their offer by adding LED lighting to their portfolio providing customers with yet more options to reduce costs, save energy and be more environmentally friendly.
