As a family-run funeral director celebrates its 160th anniversary, Derbyshire based full-service marketing agency Purpose Media have joined forces with the business to support the development of their future marketing strategy.

G. Wathall and Son funeral directors based in Derby can trace its roots back to 1858.

Since those early days, the business has grown to become an integral part of the community. Six generations of the Wathall family have been involved in the firm and still to this day it remains a family business.

It’s the longest established independent funeral directors in Derby and has witnessed many changes during the last 160 years, most recently its partnership with Purpose Media, which was the catalyst for their rebrand in 2018.

While their extensive experience has set them apart, Wathall’s were keen to give their brand a fresh, new look to strengthen their identity, allowing them to enter a new phase of the business.

Focus on the Future

Helping them to focus on their future and the changing needs of the people and families they work with, Purpose Media have created Wathall’s a new set of brand assets, including new brand colours, a logo, and typography.

Along with a strong visual identity, Purpose Media have worked alongside the team at Wathall’s to create content to help filter across their communication channels.

This has included new brand messaging, which is currently being applied to their existing communications, filtering appropriate SEO terms throughout to help Wathall’s meet the increasingly diverse needs of modern families coping with loss.
