Helping hospice to spread its message of hope

Hospice Hope is a registered charity which provides pastoral care to local people with life-limiting conditions.

It was established in 2002, following the closure of the Sue Ryder Hospice at Staunton Harold, which provided palliative care to adults living in North West Leicestershire.

A group of committed individuals felt that the closure of the facility came at a heavy cost to their local community, with alternative palliative care being located some considerable distance away and little or no NHS support in the area.

The charity runs four weekly support cafés in Ashby, Coalville and Whitwick, Ibstock, and Castle Donington, where people and carers can drop-in for the afternoon, receive support, relax and meet new people.

In addition, since April 2017, Hospice Hope has offered further respite care at Hope House, in the Leicestershire village of Griffydam, where people can receive emotional support, complementary therapies, activities and a nutritious, hot, home-cooked two-course lunch.

Hope House is open three days a week from 10.30am to 3.30pm, and while guests are there, their carers are able to take a well-earned break.

The charity is continually raising funds to ensure the respite centre can continue to keep its doors open and its long-term aim is to secure enough funding to open more days, with longer hours.

Providing support as part of our CSR

Quiet Storm has been working with Hospice Hope since 2010, providing marketing support to help it grow, raise its profile and exceed its fundraising targets.

This has included designing and producing marketing materials for events, providing them with our MailBlast email marketing software, developing and printing their charity Christmas card, volunteering at their events free of charge, and providing free strategic consultancy on a regular, recurring basis.

Quiet Storm Director Phil Megson said:

“Hospice Hope is a wonderful charity and is something very close to our hearts here at Quiet Storm, because we first started working with the team there at a time when our own father had been diagnosed with cancer.

“Although we can’t provide practical support to help with the day-to-day running of the centre, as a marketing agency, what we can do is provide expertise and resource support to help promote the fantastic work Hospice Hope does and raise awareness of its fundraising efforts.

“We’ve also been in business for a long time and to help it guide its strategy and bring a real commercial focus to what it does to ensure it continues to remain a financially viable service which provides fantastic support to local people.”

Stewart Shepherd, Chairman of Hospice Hope, said:

“We’re extremely grateful for the continuous support we have received from Quiet Storm over the past nine years.

“They have become a key partner of Hospice Hope and have helped us to continually raise awareness of what we do and support our fundraising activities. Their professional support in so many areas is of tremendous value to us.

“I look forward to our relationship continuing to develop as we look to expand our services to provide even more care for people with life-limiting illnesses and their loved ones in North West Leicestershire.”
