World-leader HUUB to be headline sponsor of the Derby 10k

Derby County Community Trust is proud to announce that HUUB, the world leader in triathlon apparel, is to be the new sponsor of the Derby 10K.

HUUB’s founder and chief executive, Dean Jackson, signed a three-year deal and promises to bring exciting surprises for this year’s competitors.

The Derby 10K, which takes place on March 29, has long been established in the city and its organisation was taken over by the Community Trust, Derby’s County’s charity arm, in 2017 when it amalgamated with Sporting Futures.

The race is the Derby County Community Trust’s biggest fundraiser, generating over £70,000 for the Trust and other local and national charities.

It attracts more than 5,000 runners starts and finishes at Pride Park Stadium, with a city-centre route which takes in key city landmarks, including Derby Cathedral, the Guildhall, and soon-to-be HUUB Zone stationed outside the company’s headquarters.

The Trust’s events manager Emma Pilgrim said:

“We are thrilled to announce this sponsorship from HUUB which brings together two organisations which are devoted to improving lives through sport, physical activity, health and education.

“We believe this partnership will make what is already a great event even better for runners.”

HUUB which was founded in Derby and still has its headquarters in Full Street, has a scientific approach to apparel for swimming, cycling and running, the three aspects of triathlon and has distributors in more than 40 countries.

It supports the world’s finest triathletes including Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, Georgia Taylor Brown, Jess Learmonth and Derby’s own Tom Bishop.

As well as the Derby 10K, it sponsors other great events including The London Triathlon, Blenheim Triathlon and the serpentine swim.

Dean said:

“I have been involved with sport in this city for many years, and my roots are in running.

“To be able to support this great event is a delight and something I have been waiting to be able to do for many years.

“The event is the best organised in the city and delivers a goal to thousands of athletes wanting to improve their fitness.”

Emma added:

“The 2020 event is already in full preparation with a dedicated training plan and weekly training sessions taking place every Tuesday, and the addition of HUUB as headline sponsor will add further excitement to the race.”

Entries are open for the race at www.derby10k.co.uk where runners can sign up as UKA members, individuals, Jog Derbyshire teams or as business teams.
