RDS Global helps car giants motor into the future with new technology

Motoring giants have heard how innovative new technology can help drive their business forward at an industry showcase.

Derby IT solutions firm RDS Global exhibited at AM (Automotive Management) Live - the UK’s leading event for motor retailers - at Birmingham’s NEC on Thursday.

RDS promoted their RDS Black Box™ - a secure software solution connecting existing data systems together, allowing for real-time and unified data to be used in existing reporting systems, or integrated into third party solutions.

The firm has developed interactive business intelligence software showing real time information via online website reports and dashboards.

Even if Office 365-based systems crash, the RDS Black Box™ will retain data and with ‘ping’ information, the team can resolve the problem before the client even arrives at work.

An example of how the technology can help the automotive industry is that clients can access all of their customer information in one place, from the moment they arrive on site. 

Staff don’t have to refer back to multiple systems to find out the latest vehicle the customer bought. They can log into the manufacturer’s site to check the latest stock availability, and look at the Dealership Management System (DMS) to see when they last made contact. 

The RDS Black Box™ - which cost £1m to develop - will pick up ANPR when a car that enters a showroom to be sold and will tell all branches what the vehicle costs, what finance is left on a car and will let all branches know what the buyer is looking for so they can see all showrooms and what cars are available at all sites.

RDS’s CEO Andy Flinn, Director Phil Harvey and FPSolutions Director Mark Coates were on hand to demonstrate how the technology works.

It was the first time that the firm has taken part in the event, which has been running for four years and attracts delegates including car manufacturers Audi and BMW.

“But the RDS Black Box™ improves efficiency, reliability and functionality, ultimately helping businesses to grow.

“We had lots of interest at the expo. There was a real buzz.”
