Major warehouse investment boosts growth, staff advancement and security for supply chain firm

An expanding storage and distribution firm based in Northamptonshire has invested substantially in the development of its largest warehouse, transforming the site’s capacity, safety and efficiency.

The NX Group – whose Head Office and main warehouse are located in Crick – opened an additional, 30,000ft² warehouse at Northampton’s Westgate Industrial Estate in mid-2017, as part of its NX Secure division. The site now functions as the firm’s primary retail warehouse, responding to increasing demand for secure storage from customers and prospective customers alike.

Several changes have recently been made across the Westgate warehouse which, combined, have paved the way for further growth within the firm. More racking has been installed throughout to better manage space within the warehouse walls, while upgraded CCTV throughout has reinforced the site’s security. New signage on the road, gates and the side of the building, as well as fresh yard markings and dedicated lorry parking spaces, have all increased the site’s visibility and ease of use.

Overseeing the improved premises is Russell Thompson, Operations Controller for the firm’s courier division, whose role has expanded to encompass site management at Westgate.

Russell said:

“Our customer base is expanding steadily each year, which has led to company-wide investments in our fleet, staff expansion and, most recently, improvements to our Westgate facility.

“We operate a closed pallet network, by which the vast majority of our deliveries are handled only by us from collection to delivery point, which means full traceability and minimised risk of damage. The increased surveillance at our Westgate site extends these advantages to our NX Secure division and leaves us even better-placed to take on customers with delicate or high-value goods.”

Over the last two years, the Westgate warehouse has strengthened The NX Group’s foothold in the Golden Triangle of Logistics. Located within five miles of the M1 at Junction 16, the firm’s fleet can leave the site and be on the road to London, Birmingham or further afield in under 10 minutes.

As the future of imports and exports grow increasingly uncertain, these advantages – increased storage space, elevated security and an on-site manager – offer The NX Group’s customers the “belt and braces” certainty of stockpiling in an uncertain political climate.

“We feel that being able to guarantee reliability is central to great customer service. Our customers know they can depend on us not only to keep their items safe in our hands, but also to provide the peace of mind that comes with safe and ample storage. This is sure to become increasingly important to our customers in the unpredictable months to come,” Russell concluded.
