Midlands businesses raise a glass for inaugural Proptobier event

Property professionals from across the Midlands descended upon Derby’s popular Bustler Market last Thursday for a networking evening with a difference.

Proptobier was a joint venture from three East Midlands companies, offering serious business networking in a fun environment.

Themed around Germany’s famous Oktoberfest, it was organised by law firm Smith Partnership, civil and structural engineers BSP Consulting and leading brand agency Champions (UK) plc.

“We designed this event to liven up the Midland’s networking calendar and I’m pleased to say that it was a huge success,” said Smith Partnership’s business development executive Tom Erskine.

“We found we had a real mix of interlinking sectors, from homebuilders to property developers and everything in between.

“Of course, we also had beer, bratwurst and authentic German music to add to the atmosphere.

“Hopefully, everyone left with the sense that the inaugural Proptobier offered something different when it comes to making new and useful business contacts, with a bit of fun along the way.”

More than 1,800 litres of beer were provided by regular Bustler Market partner Freedom Brewery.

It didn’t quite top the staggering 7.3m litres of beer recently consumed at its 16-day German counterpart in Munich.

Sampling stations allowed guests to try a wide range of beers that were on offer, alongside a backdrop of live music from the UK’s premier oompah band the Bavarian Strollers.

The event also helped raise money for Loughborough-based charity Rainbows Children’s Hospice.

“This was a great event that allowed guests to mingle and relax,” said Matthew Hayes, Champions (UK) plc managing director.

“Here, we found fun and networking were delivered in equal measure, with fantastic support provided for our clients alongside our valued partners. Thanks to all who helped make the first Proptobier a huge success.”
