Building work starts at new development in Leicestershire village

Building work is progressing well at a new homes development in Houghton on the Hill.

Leicestershire-based housebuilder Davidsons Homes will build 70 homes at the site, which will be called Ashlington Fields, with the first homes set to be released for sale this autumn. Two to five-bedroom homes will be built off Uppingham Road in the village.

As well as building new homes, the developer is also set to contribute over £500,000 to improve the local area as part of the development. These contributions include over £130,000 towards enhancing the recreational ground, £20,000 contribution to the police and over £300,000 towards primary, upper and post 16 education.

Stephanie King, Sales Director for Davidsons Homes East Midlands said:

“Our new homes in Houghton on the Hill have been designed to blend well with the existing look of the village. We hope that the mixture of properties will make it possible for a variety of buyers to purchase a home there, creating a vibrant new community.

“Our marketing suite is set to open this autumn, meaning it won’t be long now before people can visit the site and discover the properties available.

“We’re also delighted to be contributing to the community through our S106 payments, which means that local people will benefit from our building work, regardless of whether they’re looking to make a move to a new home or not.”

As part of these payments, £69,000 will go towards sustainable transport including six months free bus passes for each new household, signage and an electronic real time bus arrival information board for the two nearest bus stops.
