Avant Homes launches community awards with Gabby Logan

Midlands housebuilder Avant Homes has launched a new awards scheme that celebrates communities and the people that make them special.

The ‘Let’s Make a Difference Awards’ seeks to recognise individuals, groups and organisations that do extraordinary things in the communities in which Avant Homes builds.

Based in Nottingham Avant Homes Midlands is part of the Avant Homes group, one of the leading developers of residential property in the UK. It currently has 11 developments under construction in the region stretching from Damstead Park in Alfreton to Danetre Place in Daventry.

Entries are now open, and members of the public are invited to nominate a person, project or organisation that they believe does the exceptional. Be it a neighbour, friend or colleague that goes the extra mile, to a business, local community group or sports team that has come together to do something special, anyone standing out from the crowd to make a difference can be put forward.

The judging panel which includes TV broadcast personality and Avant Homes brand ambassador, Gabby Logan, wants to hear from everyday people in education, arts and culture, sport, local services or charities along with community groups and local organisations of all shapes and sizes.

Winners will receive a £1,000 cash prize and be invited to attend a special evening with Avant Homes and brand ambassador Gabby Logan to celebrate their achievement.

Speaking about the awards Gabby Logan said:

“There are many unsung heroes in our communities who work tirelessly to create change or support those who need it the most. I am hugely honoured to be part of the Let’s Make a Difference Awards and am really looking forward to finding out about ordinary people who are really making a difference to others and give them some much deserved recognition.

“I encourage anyone who knows a person, team or organisation in their local community who goes that extra mile, to nominate them so that together we can celebrate their hard work and the impact they have on the people around them.”

To nominate a person, group, or organisation, visit the Let’s Make a Difference Awards website at letsmakeadifferenceawards.co.uk. Entry submissions should include up to 500 words about why your nomination deserves to be recognised, along with up to three images. Or if you’d like to tell Avant in your own words, you can send your submission by video.

Avant Homes Midlands managing director, Tim Brickley, said:

“At Avant Homes we believe in the value of community. We also believe in standing out from the crowd, creating change and making a positive contribution to society that will be felt by many through the innovative homes we design and new places we build. We’ve created the Let’s Make a Difference Awards to recognise those that do the same and are making a difference to their own lives or the lives of others in those communities.

“This is a brilliant opportunity to let someone know they are appreciated for the work they do in making their community great. We know there are hundreds of people out there doing exceptional things every day so let’s shine a spotlight on them.”

Nominations close on October 28 after which time the public can vote for their favourite from a shortlist selected by the judges. Winners will be announced in early 2020.
