Inspiring Business by Sharing Success

Local Business Supports Tomorrow’s Sporting Champions

Local telephony specialists Invictus Communications has pledged support for up and coming sporting champions by sponsoring Derbyshire Institute of Sport.

Invictus Communications are the latest company to join the growing list of sponsors for the unique organisation whose goal is to inspire and support Derbyshire athletes to realise their Olympic and Paralympic dreams.

Since DIS formed in 2012, it has supported more than 150 athletes and para-athletes including tennis star Jay Clarke and swimmers Molly Renshaw and Lewis White.

There are currently 32 young athletes in the DIS programme including members of the world-beating Team HUUB Wattbike track cycling team which are also sponsored by Invictus Communications.

Invictus Communications Managing Director Jonny McPhee explained:

“Our ethos as a company is to buy local, sell local and support local.

“We like to think we are at the top of our game so Derbyshire Institute of Sport’s mission to help young people aspire to the international medal podiums is a perfect fit with us.

“I am particularly keen to work with DIS to engage with more potential athletes from a younger age and to champion this county as a centre of excellence in both business and sport.”

Derbyshire Institute of Sport Head of Operations Chloe Maudsley added:

“Set up as Derbyshire’s legacy programme following the London Olympic Games, our aim has been to create a systematic model, leaving less to chance and giving our athletes the best possible chance of achieving their Olympic and Paralympic dream.

“We receive no government funding so our supporters and sponsors such as Invictus Communications are crucial to our existence.”
