East Midlands businesses take a swing for charity at CAPS golf day

Members of the East Midlands business community teed off for charity on Friday 13th September at a CAPS charity golf day organised by Fraser Brown Solicitors and Gleeds Global.

£2,500 was raised at the event and all funds will be shared between Autism East Midlands; a charity which provides support to families and individuals affected by autism, and Newlife; a charity which helps disabled children and their families across the UK.

Taking place at Stapleford Park in Leicestershire, the charity day was attended by 88 guests who took part in 22 teams, playing in a Texas Scramble format.

The winning team was Nottingham-based engineering consultants Curtins, with Lincoln-based construction company APSS coming in second place and Derby-based structural engineer Michael Evans & Associates in third.

Prizes for the winning team included four bottles of champagne, a Burleigh’s gin hamper each and the team captain received a Bentley factory tour for two. The runners up received four bottles of wine and a two-ball round at Stapleford Park, and third place received four bottles of wine and a dozen golf balls.

Other competition prizes included a four ball round at the famous Brabazon course at The Belfry Hotel & Resort for the Yellow ball competition, champagne for the Longest Drive and Nearest the Pin competitions, and a signed Nottingham Forest shirt for the Beat the Pro competition.

Raffle prizes included a Leicester Tigers bottle of Burleigh’s gin signed by former rugby union world cup winner Neil Back, a meal for four at Marco’s in Nottingham and an overnight stay at Stapleford Park.

Teams comprised of representatives from Alea Casinos, Carlsberg, APSS, BSP Consulting, BSD Consulting, Watson & Cox Construction Ltd, Blueprint Interiors, Champions UK Plc, CPMG, Curtins, Evans McDowall, John Pye Property, Michael Evans & Associates, Morgan Sindall, Pygott & Crone, Ramm Sanderson, Streets Accountants, TPS Construction Branding, GF Tomlinson, Pick Everard, Nottingham Forest and KREO.

John Tansur, commercial director at Fraser Brown said:
