Plans have been unveiled to launch a new live music bar in Nottingham that will include a menu boasting over 50 bourbons and so much more.

Taking inspiration from American dive bar culture, Billy Bootleggers will swing open its doors on Weekday Cross from Friday 4 October. The 250-capacity venue will be open seven days a week and will feature regular free live music events and rock and roll performances.

The drinks menu at Billy’s is certainly one for whiskey lovers, with 50+ bourbons, including some Billy has infused himself, not to mention his soon to be famous apple pie moonshine and picklebacks. Don’t like bourbon? Don’t worry, Billy has assured us there will be plenty of everything else too.

The Billy Bootleggers brand originally launched in Newcastle back in 2017 and this will be the first venue in Nottingham for owner Billy. Nottingham was the natural choice for the expansion of Billy’s:

“Nottingham is my home city,” he said. “I had a few bars in London, before heading up north to Newcastle but I always knew I wanted to come back home and open a venue here.

“Nottingham has a great buzz about it and is well known for its live music scene. It’s great to be back, it’s great to be creating new jobs, it’s even great to be rolling up my sleeves and painting the place as we get ready to open.

“I know people are going to love everything Billy’s is about. It’s not American-themed, just American inspired and, although it’s based on a dive bar concept, expect a polished roughness rather than downright dirty!

“It’s a bit daft and lots of fun, it doesn’t take itself too seriously and you can drink picklebacks and moonshine, – what’s not to like?”

Billy is excited to introduce some of the elements that have made the Newcastle venue such a success to Nottingham:

“Over the next few months, we’ll be bringing in our afternoon live music session Rockabilly Sundays, as well as our popular Billy’s Big Night In movie nights, which includes screenings of iconic films like Blues Brothers, Rocky Horror and Home Alone, as well as bottomless prosecco and beer as part of the ticket price. We’ve also purchased an original American Police Car, so expect us to be doing something special with that on the streets of Nottingham soon.....we might even raffle it off one day like I did with my Cadillac in Newcastle.”

Billy Bootleggers will be serving food all day until late from its Hank menu, designed in conjunction with chef John Nellist. The offering is described as having an American-edge but will be ever changing and promises to be delicious and have something for everyone.
