Executive director makes 'Most Influential" in HR list - again!

Midland Heart’s executive director of people services has made the Most Influential HR Practitioners in the country list for the fourth year running.

Baljinder Kang has moved up to number 11 overall in HR magazine’s 2019 Most Influential rankings, which recognise the practitioners and thinkers who are pushing people strategy forward.  In 2018 she was 31 on the list.

A fellow of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development (CIPD), Baljinder joined the leading Midlands’ housing association in 2014, earning promotion to the executive board last year.

The only HR practitioner from a housing association named in the top 40, her remit includes HR and learning, health and safety and facilities management.

She said:

“This is the fourth consecutive year I have been named in the category for the not-for-profit sector and the second time I’ve made the ‘top 40’ list.  It’s such an honour to be nationally recognised in the HR profession.

“I could not have achieved this, however, without the fantastically committed and hardworking people services team I have behind me, or the support I receive from the board.”

The top 40 practitioners are predominantly from big household names and companies including the BBC, Football Association, Lloyds of London, Unilever, Co-Op, and the London Stock Exchange.

Baljinder has more than 25 years of operational and strategic HR experience across the private, public, voluntary and not-for-profit sectors.  When she joined Midland Heart she was tasked with transforming the HR function and has since led her team to win the 2017 CIPD award for Best Reward initiative.

Last year the HR team was shortlisted for the CIPD Team of the Year title and payroll for the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) In-House Payroll Team of the Year.
