Inspiring Business by Sharing Success

Packaging manufacturer The Wilkins Group can’t contain itself following awards shortlist

Nottinghamshire packaging manufacturer The Wilkins Group is hoping to claw back a trophy after being shortlisted in the Midlands Family Business Awards.

The good news marks a return to the initiative for the Colwick-based firm, having bagged the International Trade Award in the scheme in 2017.

After a year’s break, The Wilkins Group is back in the running as it bids for victory against five other Midlands companies in the Family Business of the Year category.

The awards, which also include categories such as Employer of the Year and Rising Stars, are celebrating their 10th anniversary and aim to “shine a light on the region’s talented and successful family businesses”.

Justin Wilkins, sales and marketing director at The Wilkins Group and grandson of founder Ken Wilkins, said:

“We understand that there was a really high calibre of businesses entering the competition this year, so to be shortlisted is just great.

“We are delighted to have got this far, and to win again would be amazing and a testament to the dedication of our committed staff.”

The Wilkins Group specializes in supplying retail packaging worldwide to a range of markets including chilled and frozen food, textiles, confectionery, toiletries, Luxury and household products.

It counts Cadbury, Nestle, Marks and Spencer, Tesco, Victoria’s Secret, H&M, Ginsters, Pukka Pies, Decathlon and Sloggi amongst its clients.

As well as its Nottinghamshire headquarters, it has also mastered global trade, with factories in Sri Lanka, Romania, China and Bangladesh.

Charlotte Perkins, group managing director of awards organisers, The Wilson Organisation, said:

“The Awards are the UK’s only independent initiative dedicated to celebrating and recognising the success, achievements and innovations of family run and owned businesses. A big congratulations to all our finalists.”

The next stage of the competition will see the finalists face a panel of judges, before heading to the black-tie final, at Leicester’s King Power Stadium on November 7.
