Sutton-in-Ashfield shopping centre now a clean air zone

Idlewells Shopping Centre, situated in the Nottinghamshire town of Sutton-in-Ashfield, is now a clean air zone after a no e-cigarette policy came into force on Sunday 1st September.

Despite there being no laws against vaping and e-cigarettes in the UK, more and more public spaces such as shops, train stations, bars and restaurants are now enforcing their own restrictions as part of wider clean air policies.

Though shoppers will still be able to use electronic cigarettes outside the centre, the ban on their use inside is not a decision that the shopping centre has taken lightly, as Centre Manager Chloe O’Donnell goes on to explain.

“We’re always mindful of the health and wellbeing of both our shoppers and our employees - and this policy is part of our wider commitments,”

She continues, “It is important that all of our customers have a positive experience within our centre. We hope that by becoming a clean air zone, shoppers can feel completely comfortable when visiting us,”

The ban comes as a result of recent customer feedback which asked for a full ban on electronic cigarettes and similar devices.

“It is imperative that our customers know that they are being listened to. Feedback was unanimously in favour of a ban, so we felt it was in the best interests of our customers to enforce it,” adds Chloe.

“We appreciate that not everyone will welcome the ban, but those who use e-cigarettes will still be able to use their devices outside the shopping centre whilst enjoying a cleaner and safer shopping experience with us, inside!”
