Retford Theme Park celebrates community with half price tickets for locals

LOCAL children and families are invited to Sundown Adventureland’s ‘Locals Weekend’ on Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September, as residents of the DN22 0, DN22 1, DN22 6, DN22 7, DN22 8, DN22 9, NG22 0 and NG23 6 postcodes will be able to receive 50% off the park entrance price.

The family-owned park with all its rides and attractions will be open throughout the weekend, including the popular Monkey Mayhem Driving School, with driveable jungle themed 4x4 mini monster trucks; Rocky Mountain Railroad ride through the deepest outback; and water-based Jolly Pirate Boat ride.

Gaynor Corr, park director at Sundown Adventureland, said:

“We’re so pleased to be able to celebrate ‘locals weekend’ again this year. We’re incredibly proud of our local community and our family has enjoyed living and working in the area for over 50 years, particularly my mum and park owner Audrey Rhodes, who has lived here since 1968. This event is our way of saying thank you to all our local and loyal customers who have enjoyed the park for decades.

“We look forward to seeing some familiar families across the generations and hopefully welcome some new faces, too.”

Tickets can be purchased at the gates for families living in the designated areas. Proof of address will need to be provided to qualify and this cannot be combined with any other discounts.

Sundown’s usual attractions will also be open including the interactive walk-through experience Storybook Village, Monkey Mischief and Shotgun City, set in a wild west town complete with its very own traditional saloon.

Children can choose from six indoor and outdoor play areas as well as taking a trip down memory lane with the Yellow Brick Road, Humpty Dumpty and many more interactive rides and play areas.

The discount applies for adults, with children over 90cm and children under 90cm going free. Family passes are also available to purchase. To book, visit: www.sundownadventureland.co.uk/events/locals-weekend-2019/
