Soft Touch Arts join forces with local businesses and artists to raise £10,000 in exclusive art auction

Soft Touch Arts is an award-winning Leicester charity that uses arts, media and music to support young people wo are struggling with life challenges that stop them reaching their potential.

They are once again collaborating with local businesses to raise money through an exclusive art auction.

The event will take place on 1st October 2019 and will be held in the renowned Business Lounge at Mattioli Woods on New Walk. Businesses involved in the organisation and promotion of the event include Mocha Marketing, Glynis Wright and Co, The Miller Partnership and Chutney Ivy. Burleighs Gin will be operating the bar, and have committed to give 10% of bar takings on the evening to the charity. Mattioli Woods are supporting the event by offering their facilities to host the evening and giving the charity great support in the run up to the auction.

The evening will commence with a complimentary glass of fizz and canapés served by award winning Indian restaurant, Chutney Ivy. There will be live entertainment and guests will have the opportunity to network in a relaxed setting and mingle with the artists that have donated work to the auction.

The art pieces have kindly been donated by both established artists and rising stars who understand how the work of the charity helps to change young people’s lives. Well known local artists such as Tim Fowler, Jonjo Elliott, Lucy Stevens, Loz Atkinson, Luke Elson have donated alongside nationally known artists such as Scarlett Raven & Marc Marot.  A live auction will take place during the evening, hosted by auctioneer, Dickon Dearman of Churchgate Auctions Ltd and there will also be an opportunity to leave silent auction bids on selected items.

Money raised will go to the Soft Touch Arts Creative Enterprise Programme, which encourages young people to make, market and sell their creative work and gain transferrable work skills.  A selection of their work will be included in the auction alongside the established artists which will be a great boost their confidence.

This is the charity’s second art auction and they hope to top the £7000 raised in 2017 with a £10,000 target for the event.  Christina Wigmore, Director at Soft Touch Arts has said:

“I am amazed by the generosity and interest of the local artists and businesses who are contributing towards helping young people develop their creative skills and reach their dreams. I can’t wait to see what the outcome of this year’s art auction will be.”

To preview the pieces available for auction, you can visit the Art Auction Exhibition at Soft Touch Arts running from 23rd-28th September, 1-6pm at 50 New Walk, LE1 6TF.
