PLM Global sponsor 6 weeks of tennis sessions for families and young adults with special needs

Local Business PLM Global are pleased to be sponsoring Avon Tennis for the 5th year running, collaboratively working with Access Sport to supply additional funding this year that will go towards the inclusive tennis initiative.

This additional sponsorship money will supply the forthcoming 6-week block of sessions for families with children that have special needs, allowing them to enjoy tennis sessions together.

PLM Global are specialists in Barcode & EPoS hardware supply, repair & maintenance, asset management and excess equipment buy backs. Their head office is based in Bristol, which is also home to Avon Tennis, and they have pledged this money as they are big supporters of the organisation and have been supporting them for the last five years.

Avon Tennis prides itself on including everyone when playing tennis and The Open Court Network is currently setting up a block of 6 week sessions where children and young adults with special needs and disabilities have the opportunity to be part of the (LTA) ‘Tennis For Kids’ programme that children up and down the country can take part in.

Helen Abbott, the Open Court Network lead for Bristol said:

“Families with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) don’t always get the opportunity to play together. The response to the pilot sessions has been great and all of the parents were so surprised at how well engaged the children were.”

A parent from the pilot thanked us saying:

“I wanted to say how lovely it was and how all of the needs of those attending were met. The activities suited my youngest child who has autism and it was great for our whole family to be doing an activity together and enjoying it. It was well organised, and my children learnt new skills today, so thank you for a lovely couple of hours.”

Shane Watson, the Sales Director at PLM Global has said:

“Even though we already support the Avon Tennis, hearing all of the feedback from the previous inclusive tennis sessions made us want to get involved! This is a worthwhile cause and it’s great to know that we are helping to support Avon Tennis in providing these inclusive sessions so families can enjoy spending time together.”
