Films, food and fun increase footfall at the Cornerhouse

More and more of us are visiting The Cornerhouse, to catch the latest Hollywood blockbuster, enjoy sky-high views of Nottingham while sipping cocktails or challenging our friends to a round of golf.

The latest figures show that footfall is up 10% at the city’s premier leisure and entertainment venue, with nearly half a million visitors between April and June of this year.

The busiest time during this period was the last week in April with the opening of the new Avengers movie, Endgame. Cineworld hosted several sell-out midnight showings with over 3,000 customers visiting the venue during that week alone.

The new Ginsecco bar, which opened its doors in June, also boosted these figures with visitors trying out high-end Gin and Prosecco cocktails while taking in soaring views of the Nottingham skyline.

Charlie Truman, centre executive at The Cornerhouse, said:

“It’s been a great few months with many people basking in the sunshine on the rooftop at Alto and at our venues along Forman Street. The likes of The Lost City Adventure Golf and FunStation also continue to be popular attractions particularly with students and families.

“As we are now in full swing into  the summer holidays we have some big family films to look out for including Horrible Histories, Playmobil and Dora and the Lost City of Gold, which will attract the younger audience, while the adults can enjoy the array of food and drink we have on offer.”

The Cornerhouse is still looking to expand its offering with ideas in the pipeline to transform the former Red Hot Buffet site.

Charlie added:

“We have no firm plans in place yet on what will happen with this venue but there are some exciting concepts being discussed – so all I can say at the moment is watch this space.”
