The Derby Conference Centre invest £135k into hotel refurbishment after announcing partnership with OYO Hotels

The Derby Conference Centre is a stunning Grade II-listed building based in central Derby. After a huge growth in business and a desire to stand-out as a centre, they have recently rebranded.

As part of the rebrand, a new exciting partnership has been signed with OYO Hotels and Homes UK Ltd which means their hotel bedrooms will be transformed.

The partnership came after The Derby Conference Centre was looking to invest in their self-catering accommodation ‘India House’ and turn it into a hotel block. Matt Hutchings, the Managing Director at the centre approached OYO, a new and upcoming UK brand, for the franchise partnership. Although this is not the direction both parties decided to go down, a franchise partnership was formed for the main ‘Portland House Hotel’ to become an OYO Hotel and after £135k of investment the hotel rooms will each be refurbished to the same high-quality standard.

Customers will be able to book a night’s stay at The Derby Conference Centre through their app, which is a simple, three-stage process in which you pick a hotel, then your room to book. With the ambition of being the world’s largest hotel chain, this partnership will hand OYO with the advantage of a wider network of branded rooms throughout the UK and supply The Derby Conference Centre with more visibility through their online platform and worldwide client-base.

When asked about the partnership, Matt Hutchings has said:

“I was so excited to announce the OYO Hotel for The Derby Conference Centre, I think it’s a step in the right direction for our rebrand as it’ll be something completely different to what we have now  – we can’t wait to see and share the outcome.”

Guests can choose from standard or premier rooms for an extra touch of luxury. All of which are en-suite and are situated within the grade-II listed building. The hotel isn’t the only facility they plan to upgrade, throughout 2019 there are plans in place for a new restaurant, new meeting rooms, new décor and furniture.
