SDL Surveying - Networking with a difference

One Chilwell-based business, SDL Surveying, had a corporate networking event with a difference. Supporting local businesses, the surveying firm decided to take its people on a beer tour on Thursday 11th July through Nottingham’s most historic pubs.

Already in its second year, the tour which started at The Bell and ended at Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, aimed to help strengthen its internal business partner relations with its network surveyors, while breaking the norm from the usual corporate conference environment.

The company which has grown its network over the last three years to more than 100 surveying firms and 300 surveyors, believes the key to its success is to ensure its people come together regularly to share and build knowledge. It also believes in ensuring its people feel valued, so every surveyor is personally invited and is even given a goodie bag.

SDL Surveying’s Head of Operations, Joe Miller, explains:

“We recognise that surveyors’ jobs can be quite lonely, so we believe it is important to spend time with fellow surveyors to share learnings, discuss the industry and things that matter to them but have a laugh along the way.

“When thinking about where to host our events we often like to have them in buildings which hold a lot of history and sparks debate and interest amongst our surveyors. It just so happens that some of the oldest building in our city are pubs – which of course is an added bonus!

“Our network really enjoy our events, and this one in particular has had some great feedback. We can’t wait to do it all over again in 2020.”
